Jay-z part of 5 billion dollar lawsuit

Kool Herc – not the legendary DJ but a man with the same name – and a Brooklyn based organization known as Da Black Defense League have filed a $5 billion lawsuit against Jay-Z, real estate developer Bruce Ratner and Barclay’s British Bank, all in connection with the Atlantic Yards project.

In the filed claim, Herc said that Mr. Ratner and Jay-Z worked “in concert” with Barclays, and “profited from the African Slave Trade and continue to profit from these gains, through a conspiracy dating back hundreds of years and continue to date to oppress Black people, enslave them, unlawfully deport them to all corners of the Earth.”

The Atlantic Yards project, a $4 billion investment, would include a basketball arena for the Nets, more than 6,000 apartments, middle-income housing, commercial offices, retail establishments, and a boutique hotel – all located within downtown Brooklyn.

Bruce Ratner, president and CEO of the New York division of Forest City Enterprises and currently the real estate developer for the project, has been accused of having links with the slave trade through Barclay’s Bank. Ratner, who also co-owns the the New Jersey Nets with Jay-Z, a huge supporter and endorser of the project, plans to bring the Nets to Brooklyn upon the construction of the Arena.

The Barclays Center, which would be the new home for the NBA team New Jersey Nets, was named after Barclays Bank, who purchased the naming rights to the arena for a price of nearly $400 million over a 20 year span.

Britney allowed visitation ?!

According to E, Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said Friday that the two sides have worked out a modified agreement that will soon allow the singer to spend time with her sons for the first time in almost two months. He didn’t go into details but sources say Britney will have limited monitored visits with two-year-old Sean Preston and 17-month-old Jayden James.

The court commissioner still has to sign off on the deal and fax it over, Kaplan told E! News Friday. When that happens, “Ms. Spears will be seeing her boys very soon after that. But it’s not a total done deal yet.”

As for reports that father Jamie Spears and a psychiatrist will also be along on those proposed visits, Kaplan said, “It will involve many more specific terms to be met than just those two people in the room. We have put lots of specific terms, conditions and protections in place to make visitation happen in the safest way possible.

Jackass on MTV

Stevo-O and friends are taking over MTV this weekend for 24 LIVE hours to promote their new website. The suits at the network thought it would be a good idea to give the Jackasses free reign of the airwaves.

Who knows if it will even happen. An insider tells us that Steve-O was so, um, incapacitated yesterday morning when he was trying to promote the stunt on the radio that his partners in crime, Chris Pontius and Wee-Man, had to finish off the interviews. No surprise there. The train wreck starts at noon today.

KKK endores Obama ?!

White Christian Supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan has endorsed Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States of America.

Speaking from his Kentucky office in Dawson Springs, the Imperial Wizard exclaimed that anything or anyone is better than having that “crazy ass bitch” as President.

This is the first time in Klan history that any member of the KKK has ever publicly supported an African American candidate for the presidency.

KKK lodges all over America have been gathering and holding rallies supporting the black presidential candidate.

Michael Jacksons new album left off charts

Michael Jackson’s Thriller album is technically number two on this week’s Billboard charts but it won’t be credited as such due to a technicality.

According to New York’s Daily News, even though Jackson’s 25th anniversary album sold 166,000 copies this week, according to Nielsen’s SoundScan, Billboard categorized the album as a catalogue- or oldies album, making it uneligible for inclusion in the Billboard 200.

Jackson’s label, Sony, argues that this should not be the case because in addition to classic hits like “Billie Jean” and “Beat It,” the album also contains six new songs.

One label source explains, “Michael went into the studio and recorded with Kanye West, Fergie, Akon, Will.i.Am – and there’s a brand-new song from Michael, and videos. It beat Grammy winners Amy Winehouse and Herbie Hancock, with 167,000 crossing the counter. Yet for reasons unfathomable to folks in the music industry, Billboard has decided to relegate it to the catalogue chart. Catalogue makes it look like the same ol’ same ol’, but with a “new cover.”
