Foxy Brown attacker released

foxy-brown-psd2854.png

According to the New York Daily News, the alleged hooker charged with attacking Foxy Brown was released from Rikers Island yesterday after the rapper refused to sing to a grand jury.

The district attorney’s office had until 5 p.m. yesterday to indict Roshawn Anthony, 23, on robbery, assault, menacing, harassment and other charges in the Saturday attack on the rap diva in Brooklyn.

But when Brown wouldn’t testify, Anthony walked, a law enforcement source said.

The trouble-prone rapper also refused to dish on her jilted boyfriend, Timothy Collier, 33, a small-time pimp who allegedly unleashed three gal pals on Brown after she dumped him Saturday morning, police sources said.

“We don’t know anything about that,” said an older woman who answered the door at Collier’s apartment in the Louis H. Pink Houses in East New York.

Neighbors said they had seen the couple together over the past few weeks, but had not seen Collier since Monday.

Brown gave the ex-con the boot after learning he was a pimp, police sources said.

huey-psd3377.png

Atlanta’s Shop Boyz have the highest selling hip-hop debut on the Billboard charts this week with their album Rockstar Mentality. Powered by their smash single “Party Like a Rockstar,” the trio moved 52,000 copies of the disc, but failed to make it into the Billboard Top 10, instead landing at No. 11. Elsewhere on the charts, St. Louis native, Huey, grabbing the No. 26 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 with his debut LP, Notebook Paper. Although the album’s single, “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” has enjoyed heavy radio spins, its popularity only translated into sales of about 28,000 units. Meanwhile, in his second week in stores, Fabolous managed to move just under 59,000 copies of From Nothin’ to Somethin’ to keep him in the Top 10. Last week Fab debuted at No. 2, but this week he dropped several spots to No. 9.

Foxy Brown gets the Ill Na Na

foxy-brown-psd2854.png

According to the New York Post, hip-hop diva Foxy Brown arrived at the Department of Probation shortly after 2 p.m., nearly four hours after her scheduled appointment.

The raunchy rapper was a no-show Friday, prompting a probation official to tack a failure-to-report notice on the door of her brownstone in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

Brown spun on her stilettos and got back in her car when she spotted a Post photographer outside the probation office.

Brown, whose 1996 debut album was “Ill Na Na,” later emerged, surrounded by bodyguards who escorted her through an employee entrance.

After a few words with a security officer, she walked around a metal detector and on to her meeting with a probation officer.

After her two-hour session, Brown left through a side door not used by the public. Probation officials gave no reason for the special treatment.

Her lawyer, John Sampson, declined to comment. Brown’s new manager, Black Hand Entertainment honcho Chaz Williams, declined to talk as well.

Neither Brown nor her representatives gave any reason why she missed her Friday probation appointment, which stems from charges that she beat up two Chelsea manicurists in a salon in 2004.

The New York Post has reported Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and over a dozen music publishers hit Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club with a federal lawsuit for allegedly refusing to pay royalties on songs played in the Manhattan club. According to the lawsuit filed in a Manhattan federal court yesterday, the 40/40 Club has failed to oblige to the licensing rules with “unauthorized public performance of musical compositions.” Broadcast Music Inc. filed the charges on behalf of the artists, which include Jackson, R. Kelly, Kanye West, Ray Charles, Renald Richard and Pharrell Williams. Broadcast Music is reportedly seeking unspecified damages for copyright infringement. According to the Post, BMI spokesperson, Jerry Baily, says the company has reached out, but ultimately failed to work out a deal with the 40/40 Club to license the rights to some of the 6.5 million songs BMI owns.
